Pork

Not available for 2024. We currently grow out hogs with a mix of Berkshire, Yorkshire and Duroc breeding. We are always impressed with the intelligence of this animal. They are a great resource to our farm and its aging forest. We rotationally graze them in our old growth forest where they break down the deadfall, fertilize and till the land. We go behind them and reseed, and plant new trees.

Our pork is dense, lean and flavourful. We also love that we can provide an environment where pigs can be pigs and are free to roam and root and socialize. We sell whole and half pigs, as well as 50lb boxes of pork.

Whole pigs are $450+butcher fees (about $400 and paid directly to the butcher on pick up) and generally yield 110-125lbs of meat in the freezer. With this option, the customer gets to give custom cutting instructions to Johnny’s, or can come and take their pig to process at home or at a different butcher.

Half pigs cost $225+butcher fees (about $200) and generally yield about 55-68lbs of meat in the freezer. With this option the customer gets to give custom cutting instructions to Johnny’s. 

Pork boxes are a mix of chops, hams, roasts, bacon, ribs, and gluten free sausage (the mix depends on size of box), at a finished price of $8/lb. 

The pork is all processed at Johnny’s Sausage and Meats Ltd. and meets requirements for federal inspection.

We will be asking for $50 deposits per box or half pig or a $100 deposit on a whole pig. These deposits are non-refundable and help make sure that all our pork finds a good home. 

We will be delivering to single locations in Edmonton and Calgary and will give as much notice as we can before making those deliveries.
